by Oliver on Aug 12, 2008 3:38pmdoes the leauge provide bats and balls? can be bring our own bats?
by Chad Day on Aug 12, 2008 3:42pmBats and balls are not provided, you must provide your own (same as city league). We use the same banned bats list as well, which can be found here:

by Oliver on Aug 15, 2008 11:10amAre there usually enough teams to play?
by Chad Day on Aug 15, 2008 1:33pmThis is the first league we've run, but we're expecting to fill up both leagues (since each league only has room for 8 teams).. we haven't done a lot of advertising -- that's going to change very shortly.
Also, in all of our sports, over half of the league participants sign up during the last 2 days.. people either are lazy, or are busy organizing teams in the background. :)
by Lauren on Aug 15, 2008 5:31pmI'm new to cvillesocial and didn't know exactly what I was doing when I signed up for co-rec softball as a free agent. I think I'm signed up for both the AAA and the rookie league. I'd like to be in the more competitive league. I've already paid (probably under the AAA league). Would you be able to move me to the more competitive league? Also, is there a place to post your abilities, level of commitment, etc besides the message board so people know what kind of player they are picking up? Thanks!
by Chad Day on Aug 18, 2008 12:45pmThe AAA is a level higher than the rookie league -- I'll make sure you're in the right place. As for listing your abilities, you can put that in your profile (under the 'About' area is probably the best place).
by Oliver on Aug 19, 2008 9:23amCan we practice on the mcintire fields whenever we want as long as they are open.
by Oliver on Aug 19, 2008 10:19amIs any softball team planning a practice this weekend?
by Chad Day on Aug 19, 2008 8:35pmSure.. (in regards to practicing)
by Oliver on Aug 20, 2008 4:36pmIt was more a general question to other teams to see where to kinda make it a social event as well, as Mcintire has multiple fields.
by Sherry on Aug 21, 2008 8:06amMy company is sponsoring my team. Can we send a check for the entire team to Charlottesville Sports and Social Club rather than have everyone pay as they sign up?
by Chad Day on Aug 22, 2008 10:20amYes -- just have people sign up and skip the payment step.
Checks can be sent to:

by zac on Aug 24, 2008 6:29pmI just sign up for free agent were so one email to tell me what team I am on?
by Chad Day on Aug 25, 2008 11:06amIf you aren't picked up by a team, you'll be assigned one once the registration deadline closes. You'll receive an e-mail either way.
by Carlee on Aug 29, 2008 12:05pmI noticed most of the teams only have a few (or one) people registered. Does it look like this league is really going to happen before next week?
by brissette on Aug 29, 2008 12:59pmI signed up for the Free Agent list, but didn't want to pay yet if I wasn't sure I'd be on a team. Should I go ahead and pay, or can I wait to be sure I'm on a team?
by Chad Day on Aug 29, 2008 1:51pmWe are anticipating between 10-12 teams, and the deadline extended until Sept. 8th for registration, with play starting Sept. 12th. As stated earlier in the comments, over half the league signs up in the last 2 days -- it's been the case every season we've run.
by Chad Day on Aug 29, 2008 1:52pmBrissette: You should be assigned a team at the deadline, if you aren't picked up before. You'll need to pay by the deadline. You'll certainly be assigned to a team, there's no danger of missing out.
by Brett on Sep 05, 2008 12:43pmChad: I know above you said we need to supply our own balls and then you said "same as the city league." In the Co-Rec city league, the teams supply the 12 inch balls and the umpires supply the 11 inch balls. Is this the same as that or do we need to supply both 11 and 12 inch balls? Thanks.
by SBCcoach on Sep 06, 2008 11:22pmBefore I signed up as a Free Agent, I was wondering what time games would be held on Fridays?
by Chad Day on Sep 07, 2008 10:51amGame times are 6, 7, 8, and 9.
Brett, let me check with the umpires on Monday about that. Thanks for pointing that out!
by Chad Day on Sep 09, 2008 12:56pmteams supply 12 inch balls. we'll supply the 11 inch.
by McCutcheon on Sep 10, 2008 3:17pmwhy do you have two sized balls... 11 and 12
by Chad Day on Sep 11, 2008 10:08amgirls hit the 11 inch ball, guys hit the 12.

by on Sep 12, 2008 3:56pmoops. hit create b4 i did the message. silly me. there seems to be some confusion about which team i am playing with. i offered to move from joes painting because there were too many people but i have since found out there are only too many men and i make up the 4th woman so i am obligated to honor my first commitment which is to joes painting in order for them to be able to play. hopefully everyone, chad/alicia/oliver, you guys can sort this mess out. in the meantime i'll be at mcintire this evening to play for joes painting. phew! i need to take a nap after all of that. :)
by Sherry on Sep 15, 2008 11:02amWhen can we expect to have the entire season's schedule posted?
