Wallyball Rules

All players must be wearing their issued shirts of the appropriate sport and season.

We'll be following the Charlottesville City Volleyball Rules, with slight alterations due to outdoor play.

• Regular matches:
  3 games to 25; win by 2 pts.
  Rally scoring; no point cap.
  (All 3 games count in standings)
  
• Playoff matches:
  2 of 3 games to 25; win by 2 pts.
  Rally scoring; no point cap.
  3rd game to 25, switch sides at 13.
  
• Sub rule: Players may bring in other league players to field a legal roster (3 men, 1 female), but no more than what gets them to meet the roster requirements. For each player brought in in this manner, the opposing team will receive 4 points. Subs may NOT be used in the playoffs.
• Games are played with 4 players to a side.
• Co-Rec: 1 woman minimum on the court at all times. Ball does not have to be touched by a woman for the point to count.
• Time intervals: 5 minutes shared warm-up; 2-min. break between games. Forfeits: Match time for game 1, 15 min. for game 2, 20 min. for game 3. Time-outs: two 30-sec. time-outs per game.
• Service: Served ball remains in play if it contacts the net. Blocking the serve is permitted, attacking the serve is not.
• Ball contact below the knee is legal. Multiple contact (double hits) in a single attempt to play the ball is legal on ALL first team hits (including service reception)
• Players should assist with close line calls and touches. Speaking to the referees is allowed, but not license for dissent or misconduct.
• Misconduct: Warnings are verbal and addressed to the captain. Yellow card = penalty point;
  Red card = expulsion from game;
  Y & R = DQ from match.
  
• Tie Breaker: If teams are tied for playoff positions, the following applies:
  A) head-to-head results;
  B) fewest points allowed in head-to-head matches;
  C) one game playoff.
  D) If 3 or more teams are tied: best head-to-head record against teams involved;
  reverts to (B) if head-to-head game record is tied.
